The HCG Diet is based on Dr. Albert T.W. Simeons research and 1954 publication called “Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity.”

What is HCG?

HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a natural hormone in the body that can speed weight loss from areas while maintaining muscle, when combined with a very low calorie diet.

Is HCG safe for men?

Yes, men produce HCG naturally, just in lower quantities than women and non-pregnant women.

Dr. Simeons has stated:

‘It cannot be sufficiently emphasized enough that HCG is NOT a sex-hormone, its action is identical in men, women, and children. HCG does not virilise a woman or feminized a man. It neither makes men grow breasts nor does it interfere with their virility, though where this was deficient it may improve. It never makes women grow a beard or develop a gruff voice.’

How much weight will I lose with the HCG diet?

The average weight loss for a 4 week cycle on the HCG program is 12-20 pounds, averaging 3-5 pounds per week.

Is it healthy to lose 3-5 pounds a week?

Losing 3-5 pounds a week is healthy, as long as you use the HCG program. Trying to lose weight in those quantities without isn’t a good idea. HCG utilizes the adipose stored fat while not eating away muscle. You also maintain healthy eating while on the HCG diet.

Why the 500 calorie diet?

The 500 calorie diet is really to give your body energy that can be utilized quickly. The HCG tricks your hypothalamus into utilizing the fat stores you already have. According to Dr. Simeons, HCG is releasing 1500 to 4000 calories into your system, so theoretically your body is burning 2000 to 4500 with the 500 calories.

What can I eat on the 500 calorie diet?

Without question the HCG diet takes a great deal of discipline, so you have to really want the weight loss to be successful.  It is helpful to have some knowledge of food groups. No sugars or starches or oils. Some of the basics are; meats are Beef, Chicken, White fish, and Shrimp. Veggies that are not high in natural sugar or starches, such as Asparagus, Cabbage, Celery, Cucumber, Lettuce, Onion, Radish, Spinach and Tomatoes. Fruits such as Apples, Grapefruit, Oranges, Strawberries and Lemon.

Will I be hungry eating 500 calories a day?

How hungry you are on this diet greatly depends on how you manage on Phase 1, the 2 gorging days. This builds up your body’s fat stores, it sounds counter intuitive to reach your goal. You need this until your body has enough abnormally deposited fat circulating in your body for the HCG to process or you will find yourself very hungry. You are receiving injections during this phase and it takes about 3 injections before the abnormally deposited fat begins to circulate.

Eat fatty foods, you’re surrounded by them. Have that doughnut or pizza, really the foods you try to stay away from. Now is the time.

Can I buy HCG over the internet without a prescription?

Yes, you can. Going through a doctor guarantees it’s purity. You never know what you are actually getting on the internet. It may be a deal, but are you willing to risk that with something that is going into your body? Besides the doctor can help guide you in the process and have a better experience with expert care.

Will I gain the weight back after the HCG diet?

As a general rule 60-70% of patients keep the weight off with little or no difficulty. Relapses can occur if you don’t consistently weigh yourself daily. You can not judge any increase by the fit of your clothes, as many people think. As much a 10 pounds can be regained without any noticeable change in how your clothes fit because newly acquired fat will be evenly distributed and may not be gained in those same old troublesome spots.

Will the HCG diet work for perimenopausal or menopausal women?

Perimenopausal women or women who are treated during the first year after the last menstruation (the onset of menopause) do just as well as anyone else. However, the relapse rate is higher than for those that wait until after the full year after the last menstruation. This applies to women without ovarian hormone treatment, which prolongs the perimenopausal period. The HCG diet will work for women in perimenopause or menopause.
