Microneedling to get rid of acne and related scarring? It can be done!
The vast majority of people are affected by some kind of skin condition, either chronic or cosmetic, which can cause unsightly broken blood vessels, discoloration and lesions to appear on the face. The reality is that these conditions can have a serious impact on you causing embarrassment, self-consciousness or even depression.
In the past, patients with acne haven’t had many options to get down to the root of the problem for correction. In most cases, they are given a prescription or an at home treatment system. While both can produce results if used correctly and consistently, these are generally a band-aid and not a solution to the underlying problem.
Introducing: FRACTORA by Inmode; Radio Frequency Microneedling Treatment.
Fractora is a radio frequency device which is able to not only knock out the acne but improve the scarring in one treatment. For active acne we recommend a series of 3-5 session dependent on your specific case. While Fractora, can treat many skin tone and textural issues, it is a “life changing” treatment for those with acne.
Who can be treated with Fractora? Fractora is safe for all skin types and can improve skin in any condition. From tightening and toning at the first signs of laxity, to getting an ultra-glowing complexion for an upcoming event, or even treating severe acne and scarring or deep wrinkles. Fractora has you covered.
How does Fractora work? In scientific talk: Fractora works by using radiofrequency energy to heat the skin. It’s unique because it not only fractionally resurfaces the skin by ablating (removing) the epidermis and superficial to mid dermis, but also heats the deeper dermal layers of the skin at the same time. This unique combination of fractional resurfacing and deep dermal heating allows for more efficacious treatments than traditional laser resurfacing devices. In short, it’s causing a micro injury both on the surface and in the deeper layers of the skin giving you better tightening and resurfacing by creating more of your own collagen!
How Is Fractora Different from Fraxel? Although it seems the two technologies are almost the same, there are distinct
differences. Fraxel is a laser with more limited penetration depths. This makes it an ideal laser for pigmentation and “light” resurfacing. Fractora radio frequency penetrates with pins to deliver energy deeper and more widespread beneath the skin surface.
Fractora can be used more aggressively to treat pronounced acne scars, deeper wrinkles and provide improvement in skin laxity. Think Fraxel for “average” resurfacing and Fractora for bigger problems and bigger results.
How many sessions are needed? This is dependent on each patient and patient specific needs. In most cases we recommend 3 sessions a month a part for best results, but some patients with more severe indications will need more sessions with less time between each treatment.
Does it hurt? Is there downtime? This treatment is very tolerable. You arrive an hour early to start the numbing process. After treatment you are given a home care kit. After a few days you will completely healed and will start to notice improvements in your skin!
What areas of the body can be treated? The Fractora device can be safely and effectively used on any body area. Including areas that are scarred from surgery or accidents. In clinical applications, the device has been safely and effectively utilized on the face, neck, hands, chest, back, and extremities. Best of all, because Fractora utilizes radiofrequency energy rather than a monochromatic laser, it is safe in dark skin types, including Fitzpatrick types IV and V.
